Winner Draws on Words of Wisdom; Bookshop Uses Novel Approach in Window Contest

INSPIRATIONAL quotes of wisdom secured the win for the Book Warehouse in Keen Street, judged as the winner of the Lismore Lantern Parade 'Enchanted Window' competition.

Sales assistant Caz Greene organised the display in the bookstore's window and said it was a nice surprise to win as this year's entry was put together in a hurray.

"We wanted to bring out something about the heart and optimism, to go with the theme A Space for Optimism, so we've used a lot of quotes on how to change your life and move forward in a positive way," she said.

"We found books in-store that reinforced the theme and we have used quotes from Barack Obama, Anne Frank, Helen Keller and Deepak Shakur, to name a few."

The 24 business entrants in the Lismore CBD were judged at night and the winners were announced yesterday by Lantern Parade director Jyllie Jackson. Joint runners-up were Traditional Medicinals in Keen Street and Miss Candy at the Carrington Street entrance to the Star Court Arcade. …
