Neighbour Fined after Rubbishing the Wrong Person's Car

A NEIGHBOURLY spat over a dog fight turned dirty when an East Lismore man trashed a car, in the mistaken belief it was his neighbour's, by filling it up with garbage from a wheelie bin.

David Wilson, 38, pleaded guilty in Lismore Local Court to intentionally damaging the parked car in Baillie Street at 2pm on August 27 last year.

Police facts before magistrate Michael Dakin state the driver's seat was filled to 'window level' by the rubbish, with a witness observing Wilson carrying out the trashy deed.

Lawyer Sophie Anderson for Wilson, said there was a history between the two households after their relationship 'soured' when her client's dog jumped a fence and had a fight with the neighbour's dog.

"Unfortunately it culminated in this unsavoury offence," Ms Anderson said. "He acknowledges his behaviour was inappropriate."

She said Wilson brought his home in the street from compensation monies he received for injuries that occurred while preventing a person from committing suicide. …
