MALCOLM CROSBY, who was axed by Boro last week, has been interviewed for the managerial vacancy at Motherwell.

The former Boro assistant boss is one of several experienced men in the running for the Fir Park hot seat.

Lawrie Sanchez and Steve Staunton have also been interviewed.

The Scottish media are claiming that, if appointed, Crosby will take former Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia with him as his No 2.

Sbragia recently stood down at the Stadium of Light to revert to the coaching staff and was replaced at the helm by Steve Bruce.

Motherwell are hoping to have a new man in charge before the end of this week because they are due to open their Europa League programme on July 2.

The Steelmen have been paired with Llanelli AFC in the first qualifying round and will play the opening leg at Airdrie because the Fir Park pitch has been reseeded and is not yet ready for competitive football.

If successful over the two legs, Motherwell will meet the Albanians from KS Flamurtari Vlore in the next round, all games taking place before the end of July. …
