Wallaroos Ready for Battle in Childers

The Hervey Bay Seagulls and the Maryborough Wallaroos will have their work cut out for them tonight.

The Wallaroos are taking on the might of the Isis Devils in Childers tonight. The two teams are among the most entertaining in the competition - last time the two teams met they played out a 40-40 draw in front of a vocal home crowd in Childers.

The Wallaroos were leading that match by 10 points with as many minutes to go and let Childers back into the match with a few late tries.

Wallaroos coach Colin Scott said the team would be keen to make up for that disappointing finish.

"We just let the game slip away up in Childers.

"We're preparing for a close encounter.

"We're looking forward to it."

The two teams won't just be battling it out for the two competition points tonight, however - they will also be battling it out for a shield named for two of the sides' great indigenous players, Malcolm Vea Vea from Wallaroos and Danny Fewquandie from Isis. …
