PLENTY of open space and the freedom to move about in it that's what first attracted the owner of this week's Dream Home to the property she's called home for the past seven years.

And it is easy to see why. For Rose Cottage on Flatts Lane near Normanby has acres of it - 6.5 to be precise - just stretching out over lovely countryside ready and waiting to be enjoyed. But it isn't just the open air that makes this home special.

The house, 'stretched' by the owners from a small bungalow into a five-bedroom roomy property, has everything any family could possibly need.

"We've been lucky to live in this home, we've been here for about seven years," says the owner.

"When we first bought it we lived in a caravan on the site for seven months while we transformed it. We moved in the six week school holidays and said we'd be in for Christmas - we just made it!

"It looked like a small bungalow and we basically just stretched it at both ends. We had the previous owners back the first Christmas we moved in, they asked if they could come and see what we had done." Entry to the L shaped house leads in to a large reception hall with doors leading off to the dining room and onto the lounge, four bedrooms - one with en suite dressing room and shower room - and the family bathroom with its claw footed tub.

The hall then leads round to the 23ft modern fitted kitchen come breakfast room - and there's still more to come.

A utility room and the large family room follow and then the light and spacious conservatory. The owner says this area of the house is her favourite - it is, she smiles, the entertaining and social area of the home and a natural space for relaxed family living.

The family room has a pine bar and a spiral staircase that leads up to bedroom five.

The conservatory houses a pool table if you feel like a few frames and has double glazed French doors which lead outside to the large landscaped patio area. …
