Young Utah a Stalker Who Will Be Missed

CAROL Sharpe has a stalker.

He follows her everywhere - the shopping centre, the library, into restaurants, and even on public transport.

But she loves him dearly and will be very sad when he starts training to stalk someone else this month.

His name is Utah, he is nearly one and he is learning to be a guide dog.

Under Queensland legislation, Utah is allowed access anywhere with his "puppy raiser" and eventually his blind owner.

Ms Sharpe even took him to Sunshine Beach Primary School, where she teaches. She said and he had a calming effect on her classroom.

"The whole idea in the first year is for them to be very comfortable around a lot of situations and a lot of people," she said.

"He has a little orange coat - with an L sign for learner. When's he's home he can take it off.

"He now knows the difference - that he's working when the coat is on.

"I bring him to school quite a bit and Guide Dogs Queensland likes that, because it's a different environment to learn to be settled in. …
