Captain Plays with Pain as Bulls Work to Keep Top Spot

IPSWICH City Bulls captain Corey Eggmolesse displays his tenacity every time he walks onto a football field this season.

Waiting for a kidney operation, the Bulls skipper has been playing with pain as he helps the competition leaders stay on top of the table.

"I've been a bit crook with my kidneys," Eggmolesse, 26, said.

"It's been painful. I pass blood after every training session and every game.

"It's been going on since last season."

Preparing for today's catch-up Division 2 match against Kangaroo Point in Brisbane, the attacking midfielder has missed three games with his condition.

However, the Bulls junior is eager to lead when he can, having been given the honour just before City's first game this season.

"I've just been toughing it out," he said, waiting for an opening in the public hospital system to get his surgery.

"I probably go in to get my operation in the next couple of weeks, hopefully."

Tackling his personal battle, Eggmolesse has been proud of the Bulls team which leads Division 2. …
