Stricken Teen Glad to Thank His Helper

A GOOD Samaritan admits he was "terrified" when he came across a teenager convulsing in the street.

The Gazette told how 17-year-old student David Crapper suffered some sort of seizure on June 13 in Normanby Road as he walked home from a friend's house.

David, of Trunk Road, Teesville, was helped by three people - and now the first man on the scene has relived what happened.

Retired motor dealer Tom McNeil was driving away from his home in Keswick Road, Normanby, when he saw someone on the pavement.

He leapt into action, ensuring David was safe and staying with him until paramedics arrived.

Now grateful David has met up with Tom to thank him.

Tom, 69, recalled: "He was having a really violent fit. His head was bleeding, so I put my hand under it to stop it banging the pavement.

"I'm not a lightweight myself but he was throwing me all over the place. He was convulsing very seriously. I was terrified, to be honest."

Tom says two men then got out of a passing van and came to help him. …
