DEAN Windass is raring to go in a Darlington shirt.

The 40-year-old former Boro striker, who will combine playing with coaching at the new-look Quakers, said after knuckling down to his first training session for the club: "This is my 23rd pre-season, but I'm still a winner. I still hate losing games.

"I have always kept my self fit and done extra training right throughout my career. I love training. When I was at Aberdeen I had a fitness coach who advised me to train even on my day off.

"When I was at Bradford and Hull, the managers, Colin Todd and Phil Brown, used to have a go at me for training when they said I should be resting.

"But I can tell I'm 40 when I do running with the young lads we have at Darlington.

"I will coach them and help them along. …
