MOON WALKING

To mark the upcoming 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, Penguin Young Readers Group has re-released a series of books celebrating our achievements in space. Aimed mainly at younger readers, they feature: "One Giant Leap" by Robert Burleigh, illustrated by Mike Wimmer (Philomel, $16.99, ages 6-8); "Look to the Stars" (G.P. Putnam's Sons, $17.99, ages 6-8) by astronaut Buzz Aldrin and illustrated by Wendell Minor; "Mission Control, This is Apollo" (Viking Children's Books, $23.99, ages 8-12) by Andrew Chaikin, illustrated by astronaut Alan Bean; and the classic adventure story "Regards to the Man in the Moon" by Ezra Jack Keats (Viking Children's Books, $15.99, ages 5 up).

PITTS' PONDERINGS

Nationally syndicated newspaper columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. has a new book, "Forward from this Moment: Selected Columns, 1994-2009," (Agate Bolden, 432 pages, $26) coming out Aug. 1. Arranged chronologically from his first appearance in The Miami Herald, the book gets its title from Pitts' column about the 9/11 terrorist attack, "We'll Go Forward From This Moment."

SAVE THE DATE

Two New York Times best-selling authors will appear at the Bookmark in Atlantic Beach in July. Sigma Series creator James Rollins will appear at 7 p.m. Monday, July 13. The mystery writer who has just published his sixth Sigma Force novel, "The Doomsday Key" (William Morrow, 448 pages, $27.99), will be introduced by Steve Berry, best-selling author of "The Charlemagne Pursuit." On the next evening, Tuesday, July 14, at 7 p.m.

Dorothea Benton Frank will introduce her long-awaited sequel "Return to Sullivans Island" (William Morrow, 400 pages, $25.99). This is the ninth book for Franks, who was born and raised on Sullivans Island, S.C.
