PETERLEE are in freefall moment - and things look bleak for tomorrow's game at Murton.

Skipper Dale Butler said: "We have six first-teamers missing, and our professional Glen Riddle will be out for a while with a broken wrist.

"This is our second weekend in a row with major selection problems - I dread to think what the second team will be like!" With relegation a consideration, Peterlee's sudden dip after a good start sees them third from bottom, with the two teams below them - Silksworth and Seaham Park - gathering momentum.

Silksworth, in particular, played impressive cricket in last week's double-header and player Paul Smailes said: "We had two positive results against teams from the top half of the league, and that has given the club confidence we are moving in the right direction."

They will fancy their chances this weekend with home advantage and a full-strength team against a Dawdon side who are just two places above them.

The visitors have injury problems, with Bobby Stephenson facing a late fitness test and Martyn Cowell already out with a recurrence of his back troubles. …
