TOON-MAD youngsters are being offered an Experience they will never forget - courtesy of the Newcastle United Foundation.

The Matchday Experience will first offer budding Steven Taylors and Andy Carrolls a two-hour coaching session, tailored to their squad's needs, at Newcastle United's Little Benton training ground.

Those involved will then enjoy a pre-match meal at St James's Park before being given tickets to watch their first-team heroes in action - and there will be free tickets for up to two accompanying adults.

For more information, contact the Foundation on (0191) 215 3208 or e-mail community@nufc.co.uk.

Meanwhile, football starlets from across the region are invited to join in the second set of SAFC Foundation Academy of Light Open Trials.

Sunderland AFC Foundation, the club's official charity, is hosting the two-day event for boys aged between seven and 15 during August and September.

The courses at Sunderland's training headquarters will give talented youngsters the opportunity to play alongside other players and develop their skills - while being watched by scouts recruiting for players to join their Development Centres.

Foundation Football Development Manager Jamie Wright said: "After the success and huge amount of talent at our Easter trials, the idea is to give more youngsters the chance to show their talent to the Academy staff.

"If the scouts take a liking to any of the youngsters they will be invited to train with the Academy to see if they can develop to the next stage."

The two-day courses run from 10.00-3.00 on Monday and Tuesday August 25 and 26 (seven to 11 years), Wednesday and Thursday August 26 and 27 (seven to 11 years) and Tuesday and Wednesday September 1 and 2 (1215 years).

To book, call Jennifer Smith on (0191) 551 5315 or e-mail jennifer.smith@safc.com. The Foundation is also running a series of soccer coaching courses throughout July and August - and there are specialist goalkeeper and striker sessions included.

The two-day events kick-off on Monday and Tuesday next week at Sunderland's Venerable Bede School and cost pounds 25 for boys and girls aged four to 14 years. …
