BILL QUAY have emerged as the most likely club to challenge Castle Eden's supremacy after last weekend's washout came at just the right time.

With Quay taking their turn to sit the fixtures out, all the scheduled matches were swept away in the torrential downpours with the result that if the Albion win their game in hand they will be just three points behind the leaders.

Bill Quay skipper Jeff Tudor said: "Obviously it just couldn't have been a better day for us, but with an odd number of teams in the league somebody's going to score from time to time.

"I seem to remember Murton getting that piece of fortune last year and it helped them to the title.

"Castle Eden are still favourites - they've been the strongest side all season - but if we can come out of our next three fixtures relatively unscathed and still in the hunt then we'll start believing we've got a great chance because we have the best run in of all the challengers. …
