BOTH Mr Ward and Mr Bulmer have a keen interest in the political process in the UK and often write about its serious shortcomings, but both avoid the more serious question of how the voters force change to the UK's obvious democratic illusion.

The three major parties all sing from the same hymn sheet so the UK has virtually become a one-party state. The voting system is a complete shambles with a refusal to change, resulting in representing nobody.

In the face of point blank refusal for radical change, how do the voters ever change present illusion? The monarch is supposed to be the custodian of democracy on behalf of her subjects.

The time for serious intervention is long overdue, but the lady will never rock the boat. Prince Charles is a different matter, which is why politicians fear him, as they did with his uncle, Edward VIII/Prince of Wales.
