IF YOU are interested in writing and want to hone your skills in a particular area, there is still time to sign on for one of the range of workshops offered in next week's lead up to the Byron Bay Writers' Festival. While some of the workshops are almost booked out, there are limited places in others.

Monday:

The whites of their eyes - David Leser

David draws on three decades of writing profiles of famous people for national papers and magazines to explain how to bring people to life on the page. Develop your writing skills or get off to a great start. 10am-4pm, $100/$80.

Tuesday:

Reclaiming a life: the pleasures, pain and puzzlement of biography - George Whaley

Biographies are a popular genre, and George shows how to choose your subject as well as how to deal with the ethics of digging the dirt and avoiding hagiography. He also includes useful tips on surviving editors plus financial, publishing and marketing information. …
