THE model who is pregnant with Jude Law's fourth baby was "terrified" to tell him the news, her mother revealed today.

Lea Burke, a massage therapist from Pensacola, Florida, told the Standard that her daughter Samantha, 24, was "in shock" when she found out she was pregnant.

She said: "This was in no way planned. Hell no. She was in shock when she found she was pregnant and terrified to tell him. It was tough for her -- she was going back to school so she had to change plans.

"She's decided to come back home -- it is too expensive to stay in New York and she can be with her family."

Law, who is starring in Hamlet in the West End, now faces possible paternity payments of thousands of pounds a month.

The 36-year-old actor had a fling with Ms Burke while he was playing Dr Watson in director Guy Ritchie's version of Sherlock Holmes, which was filmed in New York last winter.

But Lea Burke said she and her daughter did not expect Law to "be around" to help raise the child, which is due in October, and added that she wished Samantha was married.

"I am already a grandmother but am of course looking forward to being one again. Every mother would prefer if her daughter had a child with a man she was married to. It would be nice if the father was around but that's not going to happen because of his job and she knows that -- she's realistic about all that."

The Burke family live in a small home in a non-descript suburb of the Florida town and Lea Burke works for a local doctor.

She said: "I don't know him [Law] but my daughter said he is very nice. She likes him as a person and they spent time together when she was living in New York. She treats him like a normal guy and he liked hanging out with her."

Samantha Burke has appointed lawyers and is allegedly seeking a "substantial" sum to help raise the girl -- but her mother refused to comment on this. …
