Mixed Feelings on ALDI Proposal

AT first, Sandra Dixon thought having an ALDI supermarket 100 metres from her front door was a great idea.

It would mean cheap and convenient shopping, just a quick walk from her Maroochydore home.

But then, a few different scenarios started running through Ms Dixon's head.

She considered the truck noise, the extra cars on Parker Street and the trouble with parking in front of her house.

Now, the mother of two is hesitant to give the proposal her support.

"Initially, I was all for ALDI for the convenient grocery shopping, and just picking up little things instead of going down to the Plaza," Ms Dixon said.

"But then a neighbour pointed out a few issues - with safety and parking - and it got me thinking that I hadn't considered the other impacts on the community," she said.

A resident of Parker Street recently circulated a letterbox drop along the street, urging neighbours to send written submissions to Sunshine Coast council. …
