Students Give Weak Redmen Rugby Lesson

THE Grafton Redmens' season came to an end at Lismore on Saturday when an under strength side suffered a 73-0 hiding from Southern Cross University.

With injuries, work commitments and being on the back of a long hard season, it was always going to be a tough day for the blood and bandages, taking four grades up north.

With most payers having to double up, it was a day for the younger payers to gain valuable first grade experience, and whilst some may say that the experience was character building, Club officials were more than happy with the commitment shown and what is augers for next season.

Of the younger brigade, Jacob Page was again a standout and received the team's players player award, narrowly ahead of fellow under-19s Kyle Hancock, at fullback, and flanker Luke McKenzie.

From the more experienced, lock Nathan Cooper was just about the best.

Things were better in second grade, Grafton finishing off their season in style with a solid 26-14 win, marking the end of Gary Powell's playing career with the Redmen the way he started it. …
