Kinane's Sitting Pretty as Moore Looks to Conduit

MICK KINANE is set to pick up the plum spare ride aboard Sir Michael Stoute's Tartan Bearer in the King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

The Irishman must still wait for Stoute's stable jockey Ryan Moore to officially choose between the trainer's pair of Conduit and Tartan Bearer in the Group 1 mile-and-a-half contest.

But despite the champion rider saying that he has yet to make a firm decision, Peter Reynolds, racing manager to Ballymacoll Stud who own the two horses, expects Moore to partner last year's Breeders' Cup Turf winner Conduit.

"A final decision hasn't been made but it looks as though Ryan is going to stick with Conduit and Mick Kinane will ride the other horse, Tartan Bearer," said Reynolds.

"It's not absolutely cast in stone and Ryan can change his mind at the last minute, but that's the way it is at the moment."

Frankie Dettori was thought to be on standby to ride for Stoute but is likely to be claimed by Godolphin at York on the same day. …
