DISTRICT 9 is a movie you simply have to see.

The last time I was this impressed with a flick was way back in 2004 when I watched the original Saw movie.

I left that cinema thinking 'wow that was great, different, but still great' that's the exact same thing I felt after watching District 9.

While it features all the trademark elements of a 'typical' alien movie, District 9 is anything but typical, thanks to efforts of South African-born director Neill Blomkamp (in his first feature film).]

After a giant alien spaceship descends on Johannesburg (South Africa) the human race waits patiently for an all-out war or the creation of a peaceful relationship that ends in technological advancement.

Twenty years after first contact the aliens now handed the derogatory nickname of 'prawns' after living in slums or District 9.

Featuring heavy apartheid themes the movie could have easily been a political drama or just another alien/action flick - but this isn't the case. …
