Meeting Gives Hope to Storm Investors

THE Mackay contingent of Storm Financial investors packed into Magpies Sporting Club on Tuesday night, keen to hear the latest about the fight against the former financial group.

According to the Storm Investors Consumer Action Group (SICAG), which organised the meeting, more than 100 people attended to hear from representatives of the Commonwealth Bank and from Slater and Gordon lawyer Damien Scattini, who has been working to have some compensation paid to jilted investors.

SICAG chairman Mark Weir said the crowd was sombre to begin with but people became more involved as the meeting progressed.

"They had a great deal more hope than they did the last time (when the first meeting was held in February)," he said.

"They'll be resting easier now."

Speaking from Townsville, in the hours before his next Storm investors meeting, Mr Weir said for those Storm investors who were also involved with the Commonwealth Bank, a group had been set up to try to set the pattern for future negotiations. …
