INTO BATTLE; Six Band Finalists Have Everything to Play For

BUDDING rock stars are going head to head in a bid to land a UK tour. Around 100 hopeful unsigned acts entered the competition to discovered the best of Tyneside's talent.

Judges and the public have whittled down the entries in a series of heats. Now six have made it to the final to be held on Saturday Like previous rounds, a panel of judges will pick one winner, and the public vote will decide the other lucky act.

The two winners will then head down to London to record a single with record label Go Play, then plan a 10-day UK tour including a gig in the capital.

The Newcastle Unsigned final will be held at The Venue, in Market Street, from 6pm.

A spokesman for Tidy Beard Promotions, which is organising the competition, said: "We started off three months ago with 100 unsigned acts and have whittled it down to six. The winners will get studio time, artwork for their single and also the 10 day UK tour. "It's been very difficult cutting some of the bands, there was some really talented acts. …
