Have Your Say on Future of Our CBD; Forum Invites Public Input

YOU have a chance tomorrow to reinvigorate the Toowoomba city centre.

All you have to do is voice your opinions at the City Hall.

Do you want 10-storey buildings in the CBD? Do you think a ring road should be created to alleviate traffic congestion? Should public parking be moved away from the inner city and replaced by gardens? Should the bus interchange be moved closer to the heart?

These questions and more will be asked tomorrow at a Community Open House about the city centre master plan.

The development of the railway yards into a Roma Street Parklands-style precinct, a pedestrian mall on Margaret Street (between Victoria and Hume streets) and reinstatement of the Mothers Memorial at the intersection of Margaret and Ruthven streets have all been mooted in the lead up to today's forum.

Everybody is welcome to view draft concepts of the future of the city.

So far, residents have agreed that the city needs to be greener, celebrate its heritage and revive its creek corridors. …
