Comedian to Help Raise Chaplaincy Funds

QUEENSLAND comedian Mark Gladman will perform at a special family show to raise funds for the Gatton State School chaplaincy program.

Mr Gladman had a quick rise in the comedy arena after performing comedy as a dare in mid-2005.

A career public speaker, Mr Gladman had always used comedy in his presentations.

"Then a friend dared me to enter a comedy competition we saw," Mr Gladman said.

"I thought entries were closed, but didn't want to back down from the dare. I freaked out when I got an email saying, Welcome to heat six.'"

Mr Gladman was pleased with his first performance and did not expect to win or place on the night.

The next day, however, he received an email from the competition organisers saying the judges had selected him for the Wildcard heat.

"So I went to the Wildcard heat, and I won and went straight to the final. That final was the third time I had ever performed comedy in front of an audience," he said.

Mr Gladman's particular quirk is that his comedy is 100 per cent clean - no swearing - but this has not held back his career or appeal. …
