THE Gympie Volleyball premiership table is starting to take shape.

With last week's win over Mighty Boys, Brodie Bunch has established a reasonable lead in C-grade. An improving Mighty Boys could still make the play-offs

In B-grade, Vertically Challenged have a comfortable lead over Fungus and Corvette Cruisers.

Woodies lead A-grade by only a few points over Hookers. Newcomers Tin Can Bay hold third place with Auscredit Aces and Gympie Glazing hot on their heels.

There were some highlights in most matches from last week.

Vertically Challenged started the night off with a hard fought win over Fungus.

In other B-grade matches, Corvette Cruisers had a comfortable straight-sets win over Ozwide. It wasn't all one way traffic with Ozwide stepping up their game in the second set but not quite able to turn that into a win.

The Motley Crew versus What The! match was a see-sawing affair with Motley Crew taking the first set by a significant margin. In the second set What The! turned the tables. In the third set decider, What The! edged away to a lead Motley Crew was unable to pull back.

In A-grade, Auscredit Aces had the bye. Hookers did just enough to win in their match against Tin Can Bay, taking both of the first two sets 25-21. In the third set Tin Can Bay rallied late with Jake Parton hitting a number of quick spikes through the middle.

In the other A-grade match, Woodies had a straight sets win over Gympie Glazing. However, the scoreline failed to reflect some of the tension during the match. In the end, Woodies had too many hitting options for Glazing with Luke Hudson, Ryan Wilson and Karl Christensen leading the attack.

In the Women's Competition this week Drop Bears, Blue Js and KAOS took the honours. Drop Bears were too strong for De Team with Leisa Harch and Kassie King having solid games. Dani Mitchell lead Blue Js home against Firebugs. In the final match of the round KAOS' Colleen Gosden displayed her skills while Donna Hourigan played well for Amigos. …
