IPSWICH Turf Club chairman Wayne Patch is a positive bloke at the worst of times let alone when he's talking about the club's success.

Mr Patch had nothing but good news to report to members at the club's annual general meeting, headlined by a $100,000 profit.

"We've had a bonanza year," he told the QT after the meeting.

"Over $100,000 profit is one of our highest profits on record and under the circumstances, in a time of gloom and doom, it's just fantastic.

"I've been on the board for nearly 20 years and to see what we've done with the club and its future, it makes me feel very proud and very satisfied.

"We're recognised as arguably the best racing surface in Queensland and we're also the social focus of the state.

"Our Ipswich Cup meeting has been officially recognised by Queensland Racing as the highest attendance for any race meeting in Queensland.

"The Ipswich community has supported us wonderfully well and now that's leaking into the wider area to the Gold and Sunshine coasts and Brisbane obviously. …
