QUEENSLAND Premier Anna Bligh has copped a grilling in parliament over her decision to compete on Celebrity Masterchef, with suggestions she make "porkie pies" and "corruption cookies". Yesterday morning, Ms Bligh announced on the social networking site Twitter that she would appear on the celebrity version of the hit Ten Network show.

Vet dies

EXPERTS are warning vets to be serious about guarding against Hendra virus, following the death of a central Queensland vet. Rockhampton veterinarian Dr Alister Rodgers died on Tuesday night after contracting the virus from a sick horse on a stud farm at Cawarral, northeast of Rockhampton. Dr Rodgers is the fourth person to die from Hendra virus, all the deaths being in Queensland. Seven people are known to have contracted the virus - all in Queensland and all after close contact with the body fluids of infected horses. Dr Rodgers treated a foal at J4S horse nursery in Cawarral that was originally believed to have died from snake bite on July 28. …
