The following is a compilation of reports from Beaches-area police departments:


- A 47-year-old man was charged with domestic battery and resisting an officer without violence after a 49-year-old woman was struck during an argument over a wall hanging at a home about 9 p.m. Aug. 26 in the 900 block of Plaza Drive.

Police said the couple got into a dispute over whether to leave a picture hanging on the wall and the man grabbed the woman and bumped her head with his. When police arrived, the man wouldn't allow officers in the apartment. Police grabbed the man by the arm but he broke free. Police then zapped him with a Taser stun gun, handcuffed and arrested him.

- About $4,500 worth of property that had been stolen from a unit in the past year was reported Thursday at the U-Haul storage facility, 1650 Mayport Road. The unit's renter found the locks had been changed and after a locksmith opened the unit, the renter found electronic equipment, a seat and dishes were stolen.

- A 42-inch ESA plasma television worth $3,000 was stolen after the front door was forced open to a home between 7 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. Aug. 25 in the first block of West 11th Street, police said.

- A Giant Sedona beach cruiser bicycle worth $300 was stolen as it was left locked in a bike rack between 7:30 and 10 p.m. Aug. 19 in the first block of Ocean Boulevard, police said.


- Two Jacksonville brothers were arrested and charged with armed robbery in connection to a holdup about 5:20 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Metro personal scooter shop, 754 Third St. S.

Police said an officer responding to the reported holdup saw the two men running from the scene, southbound on Fourth Street South. After searching the area, officers arrested Gary Glover, 19, of the 700 block of Bernay Avenue, and Gregory Glover, 27, of the 500 block of Benning Road.

- A 10-year-old girl was approached by a strange man and offered a ride in his car about 7:15 a.m. Friday at a school bus stop in the 4200 block of Marsh Landing Boulevard.

Police said the girl was waiting for her bus to take her to Jacksonville Beach Elementary when the man in a dark car with blue convertible top offered her a ride. When the girl declined, the man drove away and police were called. Police were at the bus stop Monday to make sure students got on board with no problems.

- A 23-year-old man was charged with battery following an attack on a man on a bicycle about 1:10 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Second St. N.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, was riding when the attacker approached on another bicycle. The attacker hit the man in the face and knocked him to the ground. The attacker then rode away. Police found the attacker about a half hour later in the 200 block of First Street North, where they arrested him. …
