DURHAM CITY manager Lee Collings fears that the heavy beatings his young side have suffered will take their toll if reinforcements are not brought in.

Financial problems have seen Durham become the UniBond Premier Division whipping boys, rock bottom without a point and with 30 goals conceded in six games.

Only goalkeeper Craig Turns and Tommy English remain from last season's promotion squad - and both could follow striker Paul Brayson to Blyth Spartans.

Collings said: "Neither player wants to go, but I expect Turns to have gone to either Blyth Spartans or Spennymoor Town before we take on Hucknall Town tomorrow.

"It is a different situation with English because the club want a fee for him.

"Durham will continue to honour his contract and, while Spennymoor will pay a fee, Blyth are trying to get him for nothing."

The only players with any experience in the City side to take on fellow strugglers Hucknall at the Esh Stadium are likely to be goalkeeper Marc Riches and midfielder Chris Copeland. …
