Goals on Cheap Are Costly for Spartans; BLUE SQUARE NORTH

Eastwood Town.................................4 Blyth Spartans ..................................2 MICK TAIT is refusing to be downbeat after defeat at Eastwood, but he has warned his Blyth side they must cut out conceding "cheap" goals, writes STEVE BROWN. The Spartans dominated for much of their trip to the Blue Square North leaders, but a half-hour spell saw them undone.

Leading through Paul Brayson's fourthminute lob, Blyth were pegged back six minutes later by Ian Holmes.

Seconds later John Brackstone was adjudged to have handled in the box and Danny Hollins scored from the penalty spot, and on the half-hour mark Linden Meikle made it 3-1. Adding injury to insult, keeper Mark Bell was then forced off after sustaining a kick to the arm, and though John Alexander hit back for the visitors to make it 3-2, Eastwood secured the points with Peter Knotts' late goal.

"It's a disappointing result, but it was a case of us losing it rather than them beating us, so I'm continuing to be positive and optimistic," Tait said. …
