IT was the final straw - last year her dog Scamp was attacked by the huge dog and she did nothing about it.

Yesterday, when she saw a woman with a pram cross the road to avoid the same dog, she decided to act and contacted The Observer via an SMS.

The Kin Kora resident has refused to be identified for fear of reprisal, but she wants other residents to be aware of the dog, which she describes as a large black and white great dane cross.

"The same dog attacked my chihuahua a year ago tearing her ear and puncturing her neck," she said.

"My mother and my sister rescued her, but she was badly frightened."

She said Scamp has since died of old age, but she has another pet and a dog that belongs to her sister which she looks after.

She makes sure they remain in the yard and safely behind the fence.

She said the black and white dog was from a house in her neighbourhood and it regularly could be heard fighting with a "pig dog" belonging to the same owner. …
