ROSE IN BLOOM in the DFS Park Hill KIEREN Fallon has dominated the headlines since his comeback last week, but Richard Hannon was keen to thrust Pat Dobbs into the spotlight after he caused a 28-1 upset aboard The Miniver Rose in the DFS Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

Dobbs' name can often be spotted on Hannon runners, and the pair teamed up to good effect with Hurricane Alan in Group company at the start of the decade.

But those races fail to match the prestige of the so-called fillies' St Leger, which Dobbs stole in magnificent fashion on Ladies' Day.

His mount had been off the track since finishing fifth in the Investec Oaks in June due to lack of opportunity, but showed no lack of fitness as she weaved through for a short-head success.

The daughter of High Chaparral had a wall of horses facing her with three furlongs left to run, but enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the chase to deny 33-1 chance Starfala.

Hannon, winning the race for the first time, said: "They keep on about Kieren Fallon - but he (Dobbs) isn't too bad. …
