Website to Tackle Cyber Bullies; Northern Rivers Youth to Develop Anti-Bullying Site with Help from North Coast TAFE

STEP aside internet bullies, the World Wide Web is about to become a place where people rally together to stand up to you.

In a first for NSW, an anti-bullying website is going to be developed by local young people in conjunction with the Community Partnerships and Inclusion unit of North Coast TAFE.

Youth project officer Regan Harding said the need for an online space focusing on the issue of bullying came out of The Northern Star's youth forum in June.

Ms Harding said the young people who attended the forum agreed the best place to have an inclusive conversation about bullying and a platform to lobby against it was in cyberspace.

"There is a lot of bad press about how damaging online bullying can be, so it will be really good to create something positive using the same technology," Ms Harding said.

Young people aged between 15 and 18 are invited to get involved in a group set up to establish the website. …
