LAURA ALLISON, 14, has returned from Wales after competing in the UK School Games in Swansea.

Laura, who swims for BOSSS and is a member of Tees Active Sports Academy, was competing for the England North team as she picked up a bronze medal in both the 400m and 200m individual medley.

The UK School Games is an opportunity for elite athletes of school age to participate over a four-day period in a Games type environment designed to replicate the feel of major events such as the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Commonwealth Games.

The best athletes from eight teams representing England North, England Central, England East, England South, Scotland North and West, Scotland South and East, Ireland and Wales competed in 10 sports -track cycling, table tennis, gymnastics, volleyball, judo, badminton, fencing, hockey, athletics and swimming.

Laura has had a fantastic 2009 as she topped off a superb national championship with a silver medal in the 100m butterfly. …
