"I JUST hope council wake up before there is a serious accident at Ramada or someone dies."

That was the angry reaction of luxury Ramada Resort construction manager Brad Ryan when he read the council's reply in yesterday's Chronicle to his plea last week for its urgent action in stopping flooding outside the $14 million resort.

"The pipes under the road have been approved and stamped and constructed as per our plans. We have issues with our holding tank. We have issues with the road flooding both sides.

"All I can see is that council does not want to rectify a problem that they have obviously known about for a while."

Ramada is set to officially open in a week and Mr Ryan said yesterday he was "praying it won't rain beforehand".

Mr Ryan disputes the council's formal reply to the Chronicle story last week where he asked: "Do we supply our guests with gumboots?" after the resort's main entrance was lapped by 10 inches of flood water following heavy rain. …
