LOOK out world, Lorraine O'Neill has finished her PhD and finally broken free from the home office that has been her self-imposed prison for almost three years.

Her next venture is the website www.fundseeker.com.au (http://www.fundseeker.com.au), designed to help individuals and non-profit organisations access information on funding and grants to help them progress.

Ms O'Neill, who moved to the Coast from Western Australia, has been a business advisor for more than two decades.

"I found that small non-profits, businesses and individuals found it very difficult to access funding because they didn't have any experience talking to sponsors or knowledge about how to deal with them," she said.

"The majority of small community groups are often cash strapped and time poor; they don't have the money to pay qualified professionals or hire CEOs and marketing managers. My PhD was on high performers, focused on athletes and artists, and their main problem was finding funds to take them to the next level, to develop further or to diversify and earn an income after their sporting careers were over. …
