Norton's Great Day Is Good for Guest

Article excerpt

FRANNY Norton had a fantastic day at Musselburgh yesterday with a 21,132-1 four-timer - including three winners for trainer Richard Guest, who was completing his first treble at odds of 5,635-1. Clumber Place at 50-1 started the Guest ball rolling when getting home by a head in the first division of the toteplacepot Handicap and one member of the filly's owners, the Clumber Park Syndicate, had a good day too as he staked pounds 30 on a Lucky 15 which included the two other Guest scorers.

He then had around pounds 10,000 running Guest's Angels And Demons but although she ran well she finished only fifth in the Scottish Racing Your Better Bet Handicap.

Guest said: "Clumber Place was all wrong in the spring so we gave her a break and I think she may have needed the race when she came back last time.

"I have always thought the world of her and I thought she was going to be decent when she won as a two-year-old, but perhaps now she might go and win two or three more."

Norton had produced Clumber Place with a perfectly-timed run to get up by a head but made all on King Of The Moors (16-1) to land the Subscribe Online At racinguk.com Claiming Stakes.

Micky's Knock Off (11-2) led about one out as he went on to win the Greggs Of Scotland Long Service Nursery - and this really was the icing on the cake, as Guest explained.

He said: "My fiancee Alison and her mother Sue came up with the money when Micky's Knock Off was offered for sale by another owner in the yard and this is his second run for them.

"Alison has ridden him out for most of the year and has always loved him.

"I could not be more pleased for them."

Paul Hanagan was suspended for two days (September 28 and 29) for careless riding on runner-up Mister Hughie.

Norton completed the second fourtimer of his career when Alan Berry's Wicked Wilma (11-4 favourite) came out best in the Watch Racing UK Online At racinguk. …
