Agnes triathlon hots up

AS THE weather warms up, more and more triathletes, and first-timers, are pounding the streets and waters around Agnes as the annual Agnes Water Triathlon approaches. The main event is a 750m swim, 20km bike leg and 5km run starting on the main beach at Agnes Water on October 4, with a Come and Try event over half that distance running concurrently. There is also a kids' aquathon on October 3, also out of Tom Jeffery Park at Agnes Water's main surfing beach. Organisers have revamped the format and event, with over $3000 in prize money up for grabs, donated by local businesses. The event has been officially sanctioned by Triathlon Queensland and is on the official calendar of races, attracting competitors from near and far to be on The Discovery Coast in early October.
