University of Florida freshman wide receiver Andre Debose underwent surgery Thursday to repair a torn hamstring tendon in his left thigh. According to a release from the school, Debose's recovery will take 4 to 6 months.

Debose had the surgery at Shands Florida Surgical Center in Gainesville.

UF coach Urban Meyer said he believed Debose initially hurt the hamstring during the Florida state high school track and field meet in April. It bothered the Sanford Seminole High School standout throughout the summer but the injury was at first not thought to be serious because Debose was able to work out at practice on a limited basis.

The UF coaching staff was counting on Debose (5 feet 11, 176 pounds) to help fill the void created when Percy Harvin left for the NFL after his junior season. Debose totaled 3,082 rushing, passing, receiving and return yards and scored 22 touchdowns as a senior at Seminole. He totaled 1,186 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior.

LSU ERASING TURNOVERS

There might still be some questions about LSU's defense, but there certainly aren't any about the Tigers' offense.

Having a quarterback who doesn't throw touchdowns to the other team is a big reason.

Jordan Jefferson has thrown just one interception in his 120 career pass attempts in 2008 and the first two games of this season. The Tigers' starter for the majority of last season was Jarrett Lee, who threw 16 interceptions - including seven that were returned for touchdowns.

"I like the fact that Jordan Jefferson is on the money, knows what he's doing with the ball and reads it well," LSU coach Les Miles said. "And I'll take him. I like him at quarterback. We can throw it and catch it."

Jefferson has completed 31-of-48 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns this season. The only interception he threw as a freshman came against Ole Miss.

His passer rating is 139.5, which is ninth in the Southeastern Conference and one spot ahead of Rebels quarterback, and potential No. 1 overall draft pick, Jevan Snead.

TIGERS FINALLY GET OFFENSIVE

Auburn's 2009 victory over Mississippi State certainly was nothing like its 2008 victory over the Bulldogs, which came by the unlikely score of 3-2. …
