PEN-KNIFE USED IN ATTACK: A Howard man was yesterday arrested and charged after allegedly wounding a female with a pen-knife outside a shopping centre in Hervey Bay. Police said the 43-year-old man fled the scene on his motorbike after the female called police at about 2pm. It is believed a high-speed chase followed the incident. The man was apprehended about 4pm and transported to the Hervey Bay Police Station. It was believed he slashed through the woman's jeans with his pen-knife. He is expected to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court this week.

SANDSHOES SET ALIGHT: A pair of sandshoes were stuffed with newspaper, lit on fire and left to burn at the doorstep of a Hervey Bay business yesterday. A passer-by noticed the small blaze while walking along Freshwater Street at 12.17pm. The fire was out by the time Hervey Bay firefighters arrived. The incident caused minor damage to the business.
