Man Wields Sword at Sudanese Neighbours

A MAN bashed on his neighbour's door with a samurai sword because he wanted to "get back" at Sudanese people, a court heard.

Ipswich District Court was told the 26-year-old had been drinking at a Gatton pub with a group of Sudanese people on February 12 when he became annoyed at them.

Crown Prosecutor Clayton Wallis said Shannon Blake Bullock went home and grabbed his samurai sword and began banging it on the door of the Sudanese family who lived next door.

Mr Wallis said Bullock's neighbour, Dang Dang Malou, was home with his family and they were terrified to see Bullock brandishing the sword outside their window.

Mr Malou closed and locked the front wooden door but Bullock repeatedly attacked the door, screen, window and a light with the large sword.

Mr Wallis said the damage to the housing department unit cost $925 to repair.

When police arrived and spoke to Bullock he told them: "Take me away, I'm no good, take me to jail, I did the wrong thing. …
