Kai Sets His Sights on a Sports Path

FUTSAL: Kai Spence knows all about goals and that is not just those on a football pitch.

The 12-year-old Heights College student loves both the indoor game of futsal and the traditional version of the game to such an extent he has set goals for reaching his targets of playing A-League and even making it into the Australian World Cup team in 2018.

To keep his fitness and hone his abilities the youngster also plays futsal and his skill at that version of the sport has caught the eye of selectors as he has gained selection to the Australian under-14 team for the upcoming Pacific Cup.

The tournament will be played in the United States during November with Kai and his team-mates based at San Jose, California.

Obviously the young footballer is excited.

"I've never been overseas before," he said.

Kai's mum Judy said her son's success at futsal was all a part of the plan to play football at a high level. …
