Homeless Cats Left with a Sorry Tale; Happy Foursome Want TLC after Owner's Tragic Death

WHEN Elizabeth Phillips, 36, of Casino was killed in her own bed this month, she left behind four very loved cats.

Ms Phillips, who had both legs amputated and was suffering renal failure due to diabetes, spent a lot of time in hospital toward the end of her life.

"She would always call from hospital to see how the cats were," Susan Muir, from the Summerland Cat Resort at Dyraaba said.

"She was in a lot of pain and had a miserable life in the end.

"The cats were her whole life."

Ms Muir was first contacted by social workers to see if she could look after the cats when Ms Phillips was unable to care for them while in hospital.

Ms Muir said she was always happy to help Ms Phillips because it was a chance to do something kind for someone else.

In the end, the cats were spending most of their time with Ms Muir because Ms Phillips was in hospital so much.

But at the time of her death, three of the cats were in the house. …
