EVERY blue-blood, blushing bride needs a Bruce -- a Bruce Oldfield that is -- on her big day. So the legendary designer will be causing high society brides-to-be and their mothers to faint in a fit of joyous vapours this morning, as he announces that from tomorrow he is to dedicate his shop at Number 34 Beauchamp Place, to providing the classic bride with her dream dress.

The list of clients for whom Bruce has designed bridal wear is impeccable -- including Queen Rania of Jordan, Jemima Khan, the Marchioness of Bristol, Lady Cadogan, the Duchess of Argyll and our likely future Prime Minister's wife, Mrs. David Cameron. Other non-brides he has famously attired include Princess Diana, who at one time cited him as her favourite couturier, Jerry Hall, Barbara Streisand, Sienna Miller, Diana Ross and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

In 2000, Oldfield was awarded an OBE for services to fashion and is currently a Vice President of Barnado's. It is all a long way from his humble beginnings as child at a Barnado's home. …
