JAGUARS NOTEBOOK; Jones-Drew Is Player of Week

Article excerpt

Maurice Jones-Drew was named the AFC offensive player of the week for the first time in his career after a three-touchdown, 119-yard performance Sunday in the Jaguars' 31-24 victory over the Houston Texans.

It marked the ninth time in Jones-Drew's NFL career that he scored multiple touchdowns in a game. It was his eighth career 100-yard rushing game, second-most in team history behind Fred Taylor.

Jones-Drew ranks sixth in the NFL in rushing yards (282) and is tied for second in TDs (four). The Jaguars are 7-2 in games in which Jones-Drew scores more than one touchdown.

Citing the importance of resting and studying film 48 hours before games, Del Rio strongly suggested last week to Garrard that he stop participating in the show, which had aired the first two Fridays of the season on WJXL (1010 AM). …
