French Connection for Aussie Players; Wide Bay Boss Poised for Two-Pronged European Trek

WIDE Bay rugby league chairman Danny McGuire may have two great reasons to book a ticket to Europe following reports his son Casey has been confirmed as a starter for France in the upcoming Four Nations tournament.

McGuire and fellow Sunshine Coast product Adam Mogg were named in a preliminary 30-man French squad earlier this week.

At that stage, they were still awaiting word from the International Federation on whether they would qualify under the three-year residency rule after playing for English Super League's Catalans Dragons the past three seasons.

However, it seems the duo, along with fellow Australian-born Dragon Clint Greenshields, have been given the green light if England's press is on the money.

Britain's Daily Express reported yesterday that "Clint Greenshields, Adam Mogg and Casey McGuire can play for France in the upcoming Four Nations after the International Federation decided they were eligible on residency grounds". …
