Council's GM Gears Up for Another Four Years

WITH his hard hat at the ready and his sleeves rolled up, Stephen Sawtell is ready for another four years in the top job at Coffs Harbour City Council.

The newly re-appointed general manager, who has been at the helm since 2005, has plenty of hard work ahead of him to ensure a strong future for our city.

He's keen to determine the need for cultural facilities such as galleries, museums and town halls and says a council priority is to examine a cultural centre at Brelsford Park.

"Embracing our indigenous partners is also important," Mr Sawtell said.

He also wants to keep re-invigorating the council by working with his staff and the councillors.

The development of community gardens and building on the success of the city centre growers' market is another priority, as is setting up more employment and training opportunities in the community to keep our young people here. …
