YAMBA swimmer Adam Bowes is ready and raring to compete at the Australian Paralympic Youth Games in Melbourne today.

Holding two Australian Open swimming records and a host of Australian and NSW Age records, Adam is confident he will do well in the fierce competition.

The games are open to young athletes with a physical or sensory disability aged between 12 and 20 years.

Seven Paralympic sports will be contested at the games, including athletics, wheelchair basketball and swimming.

Competition began earlier in the week but Adam's events start today.

An above knee double amputee, Adam, 15, will be competing in five swimming events.

The games will be held around the Albert Park sports precinct as well as other major Melbourne sporting facilities.

The event will specifically provide national and international standard competition for Australia's young and aspiring athletes in a range of sports.

In addition, the Australian Paralympic Youth Games are likely to attract a significant number of youth entries from around the world. …
