I READ that our local MPs are working behind the scenes to save the local steel jobs. They are so behind the scenes as to be invisible.

A true sense of their priorities is illustrated by not attending the workers' meeting and showing solidarity with their constituents, but voting with the party line in Parliament (as they always do) against Frank Fields' 10p tax amendment. So it was a double whammy, ignore your constituents but vote to make sure they pay more tax.

The previous MP for Redcar would have broken down Gordon Brown's door and demanded assistance for her hard working constituents.

The steel industry in Germany is receiving massive government subsidies, yet Lord Mandelson refuses any help for our people.
