Young Guns Join PGA Championship Field

Article excerpt

THE 2009 Australian PGA Championship player ranks were further bolstered throughout the week with the announcement of young guns, Marc Leishman, James Nitties and Michael Sim as confirmed starters to the December date.

All three have enjoyed a magnificent year in the US and are keen to continue that form back home later in the year.

While it hasn't been publicly confirmed, I have it on good authority old favourites Stuart Appleby, Mat Goggin, John Senden, Adam Scott and Rod Pampling will play alongside them as well as defending champion Geoff Ogilvy and three-time Major winner Vijay Singh.

The expected field of players offers a blend of future world stars and current world champions tackling the new Coolum layout.

Tickets went on sale throughout the week and can be obtained by contacting the PGA Hotline number on 1800 009 499. You can save 50% off gate prices by purchasing your tickets prior to December 9.

The 2009 PGA Championship supported by Coca-Cola will be played at Hyatt Regency Coolum from December 10-13 and its reputation continues to grow.

Smith finished eight under which included a brilliant 3rd round score of 66. Her top 20 finish moved her up into 107th place on the money list. …
